It may be December 3rd, 2025, but blink twice and suddenly it’s July 15th. The sun is out, the air is warm, and surprise, surprise, Steve’s packing up his clubs for yet another “big day” on the golf course with the boys. He’ll come home later talking about shooting above par like its breaking news, expecting me to gasp and applaud. But the supportive wife that I am, I’ll listen attentively and support his goals. “Honey, you did your best, you’ll be a scratch golfer some day”.

Narrator: Little does Steve know. He won’t be a scratch golfer any time soon.

The only thing I’m really excited about is my perfect day with the girls.

Because the moment Steve pulls out of the driveway, I light up the girls group chat, and the girls are on their way. No rushing. No schedules. No talking about golf swings or bogeys you’re supposed to pretend to understand. Just sunshine, laughter, floating in the pool, and drinks that magically keep refilling themselves.

The wine is bought. The charcuterie is made. The cheers with wine glasses, that excited “Heyyy omg girl I’m so glad you!” as everyone arrives in their sunnies and swimsuits, the playlist switching to girls-only summer mode.

But Kim doesn’t like to float alone, she wants all the girls out there with her. And honestly, same. I’ve got four friends coming over, and we all want to float together, stay cool, tell our stories, and drink our wine without drifting off like lost pool noodles.
